The hilltop Buddha is Koh Larn's one essential land sight. Set above the island on a ridge, the seated Buddha image presides over a wide, quiet viewpoint that takes in the bays and the sea — one of the best vantage points on Koh Larn, and a genuine moment of calm after the buzz of the beaches. It's a working sacred site as much as a viewpoint, so it asks a little respect in return: dress modestly, keep your voice down, and remove shoes where indicated. Reach it on a scooter loop with the viewpoints and the KOH LARN sign, or take a songthaew up.

How it works

Ride or take a songthaew up the access road to the hilltop, climb the final steps to the Buddha and viewpoint, and take in the panorama. Donations are welcome but not required.
